Secernentea Infections

Overview

Infection with a type of parasitic nematode (worm). The symptoms are highly variable depending on where the worm migrates to through out the body and which particular species is involved. Some examples of nematodes are Wuchereria, Spirurina, Mansonella, Drucunculus, Loa and Ascaris.

Symptoms

* Asymptomatic * Abdominal pain * Soft stool * Allergic manifestations * Intestinal ulceration * Diarrhea * Creeping skin eruption * Organ damage * Eye damage * Vision loss * Fever * Headache * Muscle pain * Lymphadenitis * Lymphadenopathy * Inflammation of lymphatics * Lymphatic dysfunction * Progressive swelling of limbs * Progressive swelling of genitalia * Chyluria * Elephantiasis * Chronic skin ulcers * Visible worms in skin ulcers * Painful skin bumps * Stinging skin bumps * Nausea * Vomiting * Diarrhea * Headache * Cold legs * Pruritus * Joint swelling * Fever
