Description:Â The
3rd symposium will assemble eighteen international and twelve U.S.
speakers and guests along with leading investigators from the NIAAA
funded Research Center for ALPD. It will provide an exciting forum to
discuss and exchange cutting-edge science on the following major themes
as they relate to the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of alcoholic
liver and pancreatic diseases and cirrhosis: cell death and survival;
oxidative stress and inflammation; metabolism and cancer; and stellate
cell biology; clinical research in ALPD, and biomarkers of ALPD and
cirrhosis. In addition, there will be four special lectures to be
delivered by authorities in the field of liver and pancreatic diseases.
The target audience is both established and junior investigators, as
well as graduate students and post-doctoral fellows that work in the
field of ALPD from all over the world. The symposium will help to
develop constructive international collaborations that will result in
true advantages for people with alcohol-related rare digestive diseases.
