The conference will clarify the current state of newborn screening technologies
and identify those areas in which additional research and/or pilot studies are required prior to these screening tests moving into clinical settings. Depending on the recommendations made by the conference attendees, NICHD and interested NIH ICs will respond through the development of funding opportunities or future meetings.
