30th Annual Meeting of the Histiocyte Society

I am pleased to invite you to Toronto, Ontario Canada for the 30th Annual Meeting of the Histiocyte Society, October 28-30, 2014. From amusement parks and lake beaches to historical landmarks and museums, Toronto has something for everyone that we hope you’ll be able to take some time to enjoy. Situated along the shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is considered one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world as well as one of the most vibrant regions in North America.

Our main meeting venue, the Eaton Chelsea Hotel, is in the heart of Toronto with close proximity to the city’s subway and thriving business and cultural districts. Aside from its comfortable and contemporary style rooms, it features a wide range of amenities and dining options.

We are excited for the opportunity to host our Pre-Meetings at the new state-of-the-art Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning at The Hospital for Sick Children. This innovative facility has brought researchers and learners at SickKids together to create an incredible hub of science and knowledge.

We have prepared a very exciting program that will include dedicated sessions on macrophage activating syndrome, animal models of LCH, and application of clinical genomics to histiocytic disorders; we have assembled a great group of speakers and we are looking forward a very rich scientific interaction. In addition to continuing the recently added “Meet the Experts” sessions on LCH and HLH, this year will also feature a third session which will focus on rare histiocytoses.

Another highlight of the meeting each year is the Annual Banquet. This year’s banquet will be held at the Steam Whistle Brewery, a unique and historic location which originally served as a Canadian Pacific Rail steam locomotive repair facility in the late 1920s.

A great deal of time, energy, and resources go into planning the meeting each year. We are grateful to our annual key sponsor, the Histiocytosis Association, without whose generous support this meeting would not be possible.

As the new President of the Histiocyte Society, I look forward to our time together in the wonderful city of Toronto.
