Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses of the gallbladder
Overview
An abnormality of the gallbladder wall where small pouches of the mucus layer develop abnormal sinuses or spaces within that gallbladder lining.
Symptoms
Increased risk of gallstones
Causes
They form as a result of increased pressure in the gallbladder and recurrent damage to the wall of the gallbladder. They are associated with gallstones (cholelithiasis).
