Oto-Palatal-digital syndrome

Overview

A very rare syndrome characterized a variety of abnormalities including skeletal anomalies, distinctive face and cleft palate. There are two types of the disorder (type 1 and 2) with type 2 being more severe.

Symptoms

* Growth deficiency * Delayed closure of anterior fontanel * Low-set ears * Malformed ears * Widely spaced eyes

Diagnosis

OPD is not so much a diagnosis as it is a collection of characteristics that combine to make up the syndrome. This particular combination is labeled OPD. Very few people have been diagnosed with OPD and fewer have met anyone else with the same diagnosis. Unfortunately, there is not only a lack of information, there is also a lack of physicians that are familiar with OPD.
