Desmoplastic infantile ganglioma
Overview
A rare type of brain tumor that occurs in infants. The tumor may be slow-growing and benign or fast-growing and malignant.
Symptoms
* Seizures * Large head * Developmental regression * Rapid skull growth * Bulging fontanelle * Abnormal sensations * Reduced sensation * Numbness * Weakness * Loss of muscle control * Increased muscle tone * Paralysis
Prognosis
complete surgical removal usually gives a good prognosis
Treatment
Surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy
