Corneal endothelial dystrophy type 2

Overview

A rare inherited eye disorder involving degeneration of the endothelial (inner) layer of the cornea. Type 2 tends to have an earlier age of onset than type 1.

Symptoms

* Impaired vision * Fluid leakage into cornea * Corneal swelling * Bluish cornea * Destruction of the inner corneal layer

Causes

* Myopia * Presbyopia * Astigmatism * Migraine * Some possible causes of vision loss include: * Eye injury * Macular degeneration * Age-related macular degeneration * Cataracts * Glaucoma * Certain eye diseases (see Eye symptoms) * Retinal conditions * Retinal tear * Retinopathy * Diabetic retinopathy * Stroke
