Chavany-Brunhes syndrome

Overview

A condition characterized by the association of a persistent headache with psychoneurotic symptoms. Stress, fatigue and long periods without moving head can trigger an episode.

Causes

A disturbance marked by persistent headache and a variable degree of psychoneurotic manifestations, caused by calcification of the falx cerebri. Attacks of headache may be precipitated by fatigue, emotional stress, or maintaining a fixed position of the head for a prolonged period of time. Oligophrenia in some cases (Fritsche’s). Etiology unknown. May be a familial autosomal recessive trait.
