Scandinavian meeting to discuss Diamond Blackfan Anemia was arranged in Lund University, Sweden for patients, relatives, treating doctors and researchers. The goal was to create a Scandinavian network and to discuss today’s and tomorrow’s treatment.
Diamond-Blackfan anemia is a disorder of the bone marrow. In Diamond-Blackfan anemia, the bone marrow malfunctions and fails to make enough red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the body’s tissues. Symptoms of anemia include fatigue, weakness, and an abnormally pale appearance (pallor).
