The International Pathogenic Neisseria Conference (IPNC) is a highly regarded, prestigious biennial scientific meeting that was established in 1978 to facilitate open scientific exchange among scientists working on Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Neisseria meningitidis. The IPNC attracts attendees from academic and industrial settings, private research foundations, and government public health institutions from throughout the world. The XIXth IPNC will be held October 12-17, 2014 in Asheville, NC. The objectives of this conference are to highlight cutting-edge basic science and translational research, encourage networking among scientists from academia, industry and government institutions, and to provide opportunities for new investigators, postdoctoral fellows and students to interact with more senior investigators to ensure the future of this important field. Key themes are bacterial/host cell interactions, innate and adaptive immune responses, bacterial genetics and physiology, antibiotic resistance, molecular epidemiology, vaccines and therapeutics, polymicrobial interactions, and modeling of surface structures.
