Chair’s Welcome
It is a great pleasure to announce that the 23rd Biennial EACR Congress will be held in Munich, 5-8 July 2014.
EACR-23 will build on the success of the previous congress which was widely praised for the quality of its programme and inspirational contributions. The EACR Congress has grown rapidly in recent years and we expect around 1,800 scientists working in all fields of cancer research to come together to discuss the latest developments in basic and discovery driven translational research, through to personalised cancer treatment.
We believe that a congress of this size will not only enable us to provide an outstanding scientific programme but will also allow valuable discussions to flourish. The EACR Congress sets out to be highly topical and relevant and to meet the needs of researchers at all stages of their careers. It also aims to provide particular support and encouragement to students and junior researchers. The theme of the 23rd EACR Congress is ‘From Basic Research to Personalised Cancer Treatment’. The programme will offer exceptional Plenary Lectures, Plenary Symposia with ample time for discussions, Scientific Symposia, Workshops and Oral and Poster presentations.
I am delighted that the Congress will be held in one of Europe’s most lively cities; a city with a leading position in oncology and a remarkable reputation for cancer research and cancer care. Munich’s cultural scene is second to none – for art, museums, music, palaces, antiquities and gardens, few other cities can rival it.
I hope that you will enjoy EACR-23’s exciting scientific programme alongside the experience of Munich’s exceptional atmosphere. I am confident that you will return from the Congress inspired by colleagues from around the world and that you will have made new friends and scientific contacts that will support you in your essential work.
Kind regards,
Professor Moshe Oren
