DSAKU (Deutschsprachige Selbsthilfegruppe fur Alkaptonurie e.V.) is the patient support group for AKU patients and their families within the German speaking community. Though DSAKU e.V. is an officially registered non-profit society in Germany, German speaking AKU-patients such as from Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Luxemburg or any other country are more than welcome to join the DSAKU.

DSAKU aim to:

  • Provide up to date information to patients and health professionals, aiming to get earlier diagnosis, better medical care and treatment of AKU patients
  • Bring together AKU patients and their families as to abolish their isolation
  • Provide assistance and advice for AKU patients to manage their disease and uplift their quality of life
