Garage sale for a lung transplant

In an effort to raise funds to pay for a lung transplant needed by Lodi resident Alicia Brogle, the Brogle family will hold a yard sale Friday through Sunday at 729 Westwood Ave. in Lodi.

Brogle, 32, lives with cystic fibrosis and needs to use an oxygen machine to breath most days. Before she can be put on a list for a transplant, she needs to raise $9,000 to pay for a medical-assisted flight to the University of California, Los Angeles.

Brogle was born with the genetic lung disease, which has no cure. Already, she has outlived her original life expectancy of 14 years.

She is confident her family and community will be able to raise enough money for the flight, as well as for her sister to be able to live in Los Angeles and provide 24-hour care to Brogle after the surgery. After the surgery, Brogle plans to return to her home in Lodi and use the fashion design degree she earned at San Joaquin Delta College.

To make a donation to Brogle’s lung transplant fund, visit www.transplantfun.org and type “Brogle” in the yellow box on the left side. You may also send checks to the National Transplant Assisted Fund, 150 N. Radnor Chester Road, Suite F-120, Radnor, PA, 18097. To pay over the phone with a credit card, call (800) 642-8399.
